Sacred Sexuality
What if it is all about Sex?

“It not all just about sex, you know”…
I can still remember hearing this at age 13. I remember the tone of voice. Annoyed, condescending, perhaps even a little grossed out. I felt the flush of shame and humiliation. I can still feel it.
I know how boys and young men can be with their sexuality. I know because I was a boy and young man and I received my sexual education, such as it was, from other boys and young men.
I wasn’t forcing myself on anyone when those words were spoken to me. I wasn’t coercing or manipulating someone to have sex with me. I wasn’t even trying to have sex...
I was just turned on all the time. By everything.
If the breeze hit my body in a certain way. Or leaning against a car warmed by the sun. Or music that excited me. Or a physical conflict with other boys. And YES by the flowering forms of femininity, which I had only just begun to notice.
All this and more were registering in my newly emerging erotic experience of the world. My senses were coming online in new ways. New scents. New attunement to emotion in others. And new feelings in my body.
The Fear and Conditioning began immediately
It was like mechanism of cultural programming was on standby for this emergence because I didn’t get to bask in the pulsation of uninhibited erotic curiosity for very long.
Becoming aroused with other boys was of course deeply shameful and aggressively oppressed.
Becoming aroused in nature and from the touch of life was just weird and clearly a sign of not having yet learned to “control my body”.
Even being turned on by things clearly designed to turn me on at the wrong place or time was unacceptable. And so it went…
I got the message, I bet you did too.
In myriad forms and models we all get some version of the message. Your erotic expression is not to be allowed to blossom or be set free. Its not to be discussed or cultivated or directed at anyone except under the most rigidly defined set of acceptable circumstances and even then its still kinda gross.
Sexuality, Spirituality, Nature and The Big Question.
So here is the Big Question that I just can’t seem to get out of my head…”What if it is actually all about sex?”
What if the whole of creation is hitting on us through our delightfully attuned sense receptors and we are missing the signals because we are living in a faulty mental construct of shame, inhibition and limitation?
All of nature is flirting with you. From the daffodils pushing their way up in your yard right now, to the breathtaking images of distant galaxies coming in daily from the James Webb telescope.
Everything in the cosmos is Divine, Sacred and Holy. It is also Sexy, Erotic and Arousing?
On purpose.
By design.
To entice You to engage with Life.
Think about what is really happening when you are cleaning pollen off your windshield this spring.
Sacred Sexuality is a Reclamation, Retuning and a Reckoning.
It is a reclamation project that begins with healing. Healing from all those oppressive stories, abuse and misuse of sexual energy and power.
But that’s just the beginning. Then there is the work of retuning our sensual instrument to be able to feel the subtle energies that move through, between and around us all the time.
This then leads to a reckoning with the ultimate truth of nature. That your true self is not a separate self at all but rather a deeply desired and critical aspect of the whole.
You are deeply longed for…
